1. A color converter, comprising:
a polymeric matrix material; and
an organic fluorescent dye comprising a compound of formula, (I.b)

R1, R3, R5, and R7, are independently H, C1-C20-alkyl, or C6-C14-aryl-C1-C10-alkylene, the aryl moiety in C6-C14-aryl-C1-C10-alkylene being optionally substituted by k independent substituents R9,
R4a and R4b are independently fluorine, chlorine, cyano, or OR10,
R8b is C1-C20-alkyl,
k is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6;
R9 is C1-C10-alkyl, C1-C10-alkoxy, CN, halogen, phenyl, or phenoxy, and
R10 is C1-C10-alkyl or hydroxy-C1-C10-alkyl.
