1. A polymerizable composition comprising:
a) a radically polymerizable component;
b) a manganese-containing or iron-containing salt or organic complex;
c) optionally a tertiary amine or phosphine;
d) optionally a nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocycle or a quaternary ammonium salt;
e) optionally a polyhydroxy carboxylic acid;
f) a 1,3-dioxo compound; and
g) optionally, a transition metal salt other than the manganese or iron containing salt or organic complex,
wherein the polymerizable composition is substantially free of cobalt and a peroxide initiator, and
the polymerizable composition comprises at least one of:
(1) a combination of (i) a tertiary amine or phosphine, and (ii) a nitrogen-containing aromatic heterocycle or a quaternary ammonium salt;
(2) a polyhydroxy carboxylic acid; or
(3) a quaternary ammonium salt;
wherein the polymerizable composition has a gel-time drift less than about 20% over 30 days.
