1. A system for tool identification during a surgical procedure, the system comprising:
one or more tool assemblies, each tool assembly comprising a shaft, a tool tip joined to the shaft, and one or more identifying features disposed on the shaft proximally of the tool tip, wherein the one or more identifying features correspond to the tool tip;
a drive assembly configured to selectively couple to each tool assembly to form a drive-tool assembly;
one or more processors; and
a non-transitory, computer-readable medium storing instructions that, when executed, cause the system to:
actuate the drive-tool assembly to engage the drive assembly with the one or more identifying features;
receive position information associated with the drive assembly when engaged with the one or more identifying features; and
identify the tool assembly of the drive-tool assembly from amongst the one or more tool assemblies based on the position information.
