1. An over-the-range appliance mountable over a cooktop appliance, the cooktop appliance comprising a cooktop surface for supporting one or more cooking utensils, the over-the-range appliance comprising:
a cabinet;
a camera assembly mounted to a bottom of the cabinet in view of the cooktop surface of the cooktop appliance;
an interactive display mounted to a front of the cabinet; and
a controller operably coupled to the camera assembly, the controller being configured to:
obtain an image of the cooktop surface;
analyze the image to identify a first food item positioned on the cooktop surface;
initiate a first timer having a first duration associated with the first food item; and
display on the interactive display the image of the cooktop surface with the first timer superimposed over the first food item.
