2. A method for producing an α-olefin/(meth)acrylic acid ester copolymer, comprising copolymerizing an α-olefin and a (meth)acrylic acid ester in presence of an olefin polymerization catalyst containing a metal complex represented by formula (D):

wherein R3 to R11, E1, X1 and M are as follows:
M represents nickel or palladium;
X1 represents oxygen or sulfur;
E1 represents phosphorus, arsenic or antimony;
R3 and R4 each independently represents a hydrocarbon group having 5 to 30 carbon atoms and optionally containing a heteroatom;
R5 to R8 each independently represents a hydrogen atom, a halogen, a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 30 carbon atoms and optionally containing a heteroatom, OR2, CO2R2, CO2M′, C(O)N(R1)2, C(O)R2, SR2, SO2R2, OSO2R2, P(O)(OR2)2-y(R1)y, CN, NHR2, N(R2)2, Si(OR1)3-x(R1)x, OSi(OR1)3-x(R1)x, NO2, SO3M′, PO3M′2, P(O)(OR2)2M′ or an epoxy-containing group, where R1 represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; R2 represents a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms; M′ represents an alkali metal, ammonium, quaternary ammonium or phosphonium; x represents an integer of from 0 to 3; and y represents an integer of from 0 to 2; and
R9 to R11 each independently represents a hydrogen atom or a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms and optionally containing a heteroatom.
