1. A method for purification of liquid compositions containing at least one sphingolipid comprising the following steps:
(a) adding from 0.1 to 35 wt.-% of a clay mineral with a BET surface area of from 50 to 450 m2/g, a micropore volume of pores with a maximum diameter of 80 nm of from 0.01 to 0.75 ml/g, a SiO2 content of from 25 to 98 wt.-% and a cation exchange capacity of from 20 to 120 mVal/100 g to the liquid composition; and
(b) separating the clay mineral after a reaction time of from 10 seconds to 90 minutes.
