1. A method of controlling a user interface of a computer device on which a game board of multiple user-selectable game element is displayed, with each user-selectable game element occupying a location on the game board, the method comprising:
detecting a game element selected by a user to remove from the game board a group of adjacent matching game elements;
identifying a location on the game board of the selected game element;
removing the group of adjacent matching game elements from their locations on the game board, including the selected game element;
reserving the location on the game board of the selected game element for subsequent creation of a booster object;
reserving endpoints for the locations of the game board where game elements were removed except for the reserved location;
rendering on the user interface a visual representation to mark the reserved location; and
performing a refill procedure in which replacement game elements are provided on the game board to replace the removed game elements, except at the reserved location, the visual representation marking the reserved location during the refill procedure.
