1. An electronic device comprising:
at least one image capturing device that provides an image stream;
at least one network interface that communicatively connects the electronic device to at least one second electronic device during a video communication session; and
a controller communicatively coupled to the at least one image capturing devices and the at least one network interface, and which:
during a video communication session with the at least one second electronic device, identifies a person and a writing surface within the image stream;
in response to determining that the person is attending to the writing surface, selectively communicates, to the video communication session via the at least one network interface, a first portion of the image stream that focusses on the writing surface, wherein the controller:
determines a spatial dimension of written content on the writing surface in the image stream;
determines a first display size of a first receiving device of the at least one second electronic device;
determines a first scaling factor of the spatial dimension that enables the written content to be legible when presented in the first display size by the first receiving device; and
sizes the first portion of the image stream using the first scaling factor.
