1. A method for low peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) demodulation reference signal (DM-RS) port multiplexing for a physical uplink control channel (PUCCH), the method comprising:
multiplexing DM-RS ports of a user equipment (UE) based at least on (i) an operation selected from two or more operations based on a number of UE PUCCH format 4 messages that are to be multiplexed by the UE and (ii) a time-domain orthogonal cover code (OCC), wherein the number of UE PUCCH format 4 messages that are to be multiplexed by the UE is determined based on determining that a PUCCH format 4 is to be used to transmit a PUCCH message by the UE.
