1. A pool cleaner comprising:
a drive mechanism operable to drive the pool cleaner along a submerged surface of a pool in a forward direction;
a housing carried by the drive mechanism, the housing having an inlet port through which water is suctioned;
an outlet port that receives water from the inlet port;
a vent mechanism including an opening through a top cover of the housing, the opening being at least partially forward the outlet port, the top cover providing access to an interior of the housing; and
a water port defining at least one opening on a bottom of the housing, the water port receiving water from the vent mechanism when a forward end of the pool cleaner extends above a waterline of the pool so as to prevent loss of suction at the inlet port.
