1. A carbon material having:
a tap density of 0.5 g/cm3 or greater;
a surface area of 1000 m2/g or greater;
a total pore volume of 0.5 cm3/g or greater; and
a gravimetric methane adsorption of 0.10 g/g or greater at room temperature and 50 bar pressure.
