1. A method for preventing an episode of incontinence in an individual in need thereof, the method comprising:
(a) sensing, with a sensor interfacing with an individual, a parameter that is associated with a response from the individual that is intended to prevent an episode of incontinence; and
(b) providing an electrical stimulation to a region at or near a pudendal nerve of the individual with a stimulator electrode implanted in the individual that, together with the response, prevents the episode of incontinence, and
(c) providing a base electrical stimulation at a different intensity level than the electrical stimulation provided in step (b).
