1. A patient transfer device comprising:
a chamber formed by an upper layer coupled to a lower layer, the chamber configured to be inflated and supported by a support surface, the support surface being in contact with the lower layer, the lower layer having a first lower layer edge and a second lower layer edge;
a port disposed along an outer perimeter of the chamber, the port configured for connection to an air flow device; and
a low-friction sheet coupled to a bottom surface of the lower layer, the low-friction sheet forming a closed loop, each edge of the low-friction sheet being coupled to the lower layer along a single longitudinal line, the low-friction sheet configured such that a portion of the low-friction sheet extends beyond one of the first lower layer edge or the second lower layer edge in at least one position of the low-friction sheet relative to the lower layer;
wherein a first surface of the low-friction sheet is configured to engage the support surface and a second surface of the low-friction sheet is configured to slide against itself to facilitate sliding of the chamber relative to the support surface.
