1. A method for simulating a three-dimensional orientation of a surgical hardware device rotatable about an insertion point in a bone using a first diagnostic representation of the bone in a first view and a second diagnostic representation of the bone in a second view during a planning stage, the method comprising:
displaying the first diagnostic representation of the bone in the first view;
displaying a first movable marker to represent a first view insertion point in the bone along with the first diagnostic representation of the bone in the first view;
moving the first movable marker to the first view insertion point at a desired location in the bone as represented by the first diagnostic representation of the bone in the first view;
displaying a simulated surgical hardware device in an inserted position at the first view insertion point, along with the first diagnostic representation of the bone in the first view, the simulated surgical hardware device aligned with the first view insertion point of the first diagnostic representation of the bone in the first view;
rotating the simulated surgical hardware device about the first view insertion point relative to the first view insertion point in the first view;
displaying the second diagnostic representation of the bone in the second view;
displaying a second movable marker to represent a second view insertion point in the bone superimposed on the second diagnostic representation of the bone in the second view, while maintaining the first view insertion point in the bone in the first view;
moving the second movable marker to the second view insertion point at a second desired location in the bone as represented by the second diagnostic representation of the bone in the second view;
displaying the simulated surgical hardware device in a second inserted position in the second view, superimposed on the second diagnostic representation of the bone in the second view, the simulated surgical hardware device aligned with the second view insertion point of the second diagnostic representation of the bone in the second view;
rotating the simulated surgical hardware device about the second view insertion point relative to the second view insertion point in the second view; and
designating the three-dimensional orientation of the simulated surgical hardware device on the first diagnostic representation of the bone and the second diagnostic representation of the bone relative to the insertion point at the desired location.
