1. A protective apparel and support apparatus, comprising:
a barrier portion that separates an interior barrier space from an exterior space, the barrier portion comprising a transparent shield; and
a yoke configured to rest on the shoulders of a wearer, the yoke comprising:
a first chest member having a forward end and a rearward end, and
a first back member coupled to the first chest member rearward end by a first hinge;
wherein the transparent shield attaches to the first chest member and extends from the first chest member.
