1. A volumetric metering system comprising:
a housing configured to be coupled to a commodity container, the housing having a transducer portion;
a roller removably coupled within the housing, the roller having an encoding tab with at least one circuit, wherein the encoding tab is positioned to allow interaction between the circuit and the transducer portion when the roller is installed in the housing;
a controller operably coupled to the transducer portion and configured to cause the transducer portion to interact with the circuit and identify the roller based on the interaction, the controller being configured to automatically set roller information based on automatic identification of the roller; and
wherein the housing has an aperture configured to receive the roller and wherein the encoding tab is positioned proximate an end of the roller and the encoding tab is a segment of a circle, and wherein the circle has a diameter greater than a diameter of the housing aperture.
