A method for controlling an apparatus including at least one processor and a memory that stores a program which, when executed by the at least one processor, causes the at least one processor to function as: a sensor driving unit configured to incline an imaging sensor with respect to a plane orthogonal to an optical axis of an imaging optical system, a focus lens driving unit configured to change a position of a focus lens in the imaging optical system, and a range change unit configured to change an imaging range, the method comprising:
based on an amount of change in position from a reference plane to a target plane corresponding to a target height, controlling the position of the focus lens, the imaging range, and an inclination angle of the imaging sensor so that the reference and target planes are parallel to each other and the target plane is included in an angle of view of the apparatus.
