1. A circuit for controlling electrical power comprising:
a circuit node operably connected to a pass element configured to be switched on and off in accordance with a drive signal applied at the circuit node;
a communication interface configured to receive data from an external controller operably connected to the communication interface; and
a control circuit comprising a non-volatile memory configured to store a first parameter set and a second parameter, wherein the control circuit is configured to:
generate, in a first mode of operation, the drive signal dependent on parameters of the first parameter set and based on data received via the communication interface indicating switch-on and switch-off commands; and
generate, in a second mode of operation, the drive signal dependent on parameters of the second parameter set while discarding data received via the communication interface indicating switch-on and switch-off commands, wherein the first parameter set and the second parameter set comprise one or more of an over-voltage-threshold, an under-voltage threshold, an over-current threshold, an over-temperature threshold, or a parameter representing a desired slew rate and wherein a first parameter of the first parameter set comprises a different value than a second parameter of the second parameter set that corresponds to the first parameter.
