1. A method for dual-mode scheduling of a data transfer between a network and a user device, the method comprising, on at least one processor:
based on a scheduling request of the data transfer received from the user device, operating a first data transfer cycle by:
selecting a first transfer time for transferring a first data packet of the data transfer, and
allocating at least one system resource for use in the data transfer, the allocated system resource provided with a configuration for the data transfer;
based on receipt of a signal indicating readiness for transfer of a second data packet of the data transfer, operating a second data transfer cycle by:
determining a value of at least one predetermined signal parameter of the user device,
selecting a second transfer time for transferring the second data packet of the data transfer, and
maintaining the configuration of the allocated system resource during the second transfer time based on the value of the predetermined signal parameter; and
based on receipt of a signal indicating readiness for transfer of a third data packet of the data transfer, operating a third data transfer cycle by:
determining an updated value of the predetermined signal parameter of the user device,
selecting a third transfer time for transferring the third data packet of the data transfer, and
altering the configuration of the allocated system resource prior to the third transfer time based on the updated value of the predetermined signal parameter.
