1. An aerodrome signalling system, comprising:
a plurality of signalling units, each comprising at least one aerodrome signalling device,
a control unit configured to control operation of the plurality of signalling units,
a central communication unit operably coupled to the control unit and configured for data communication with the plurality of signalling units,
wherein the plurality of signalling units each comprise at least one sensor device configured to capture measurement data in relation to one or more of: an environmental condition, a meteorological condition, a presence of an object, a movement of an object and a status condition relating to the respective signalling unit other than a status condition of the respective at least one signalling device,
wherein the plurality of signalling units each comprise a first wireless data communication device configured for cellular data communication,
and wherein the at least one sensor device is configured to communicate the measurement data to the first wireless data communication device for transmission via a cellular network.
