1. A method comprising:
determining that a customer device does not store a point-of-sale (POS) application;
prompting a customer associated with the customer device to acquire the POS application at least partly in response to the determining that the customer device does not store the POS application;
detecting, by code on the customer device, while the code is being executed by a merchant-provided application displaying an ecommerce page of a merchant, that the a point-of-sale (POS application is installed on the customer device, the POS application being associated with a payment processing service (PPS);
displaying, by the code, on the ecommerce page of the merchant-provided application and based on the detecting, an indication that the POS application is available for use to complete a payment for a purchase of an item from the merchant;
receiving, by the code, a selection of the indication to complete the payment for the purchase of the item using the POS application;
sending, by the code, an indication of the selection to the POS application;
receiving, by the POS application and from the code, the indication of the selection;
receiving, by the POS application and from a server computing device of the PPS, login information of the merchant;
authorizing, by the POS application and using the login information, the merchant to use near-field-communication (NFC) payment hardware of the customer device to receive payment information from a contactless credit card of the customer;
receiving, by the POS application, from the contactless credit card, and via the NFC payment hardware in response to the contactless credit card being moved within a threshold proximity of the NFC payment hardware, the payment information for satisfying the payment for the purchase of the item; and
sending, by the POS application, the payment information to the PPS, the PPS being configured to finalize the purchase of the item on behalf of the merchant.
