1. An illuminated glass element, comprising:
a glass pane comprising a first surface, a second surface, and a side edge face extending between the first surface and the second surface,
at least one light source for coupling light into the glass pane such that the light propagates in the glass pane by total reflection at the first surface and the second surface,
at least one light-scattering structure for coupling said light out of the glass pane via at least one of: the first surface and the second surface, and
a light trap, in at least sections of a peripheral edge region of the glass pane, for reducing emission of the light via the side edge face,
wherein the light trap is formed from a light-scattering or light-diffracting layer on the first surface and an opaque element on the second surface, and
wherein the opaque element extends in the form of a strip along a region of the side edge face of the second surface.
