1. An energy meter comprising:
a current sensor configured to measure an electrical current flowing through a conductor, the current sensor having a single adapter port;
a common adapter physically extending contiguously between a first end and a second end, the first end configured to connect to the current sensor at the single adapter port; and
a selected interchangeable voltage sensor physically extending contiguously between a first end and a second end, the first end configured to detachably connect to the second end of the common adapter and configured to measure an electrical voltage carried by the conductor;
wherein the common adapter is configured to connect to different interchangeable voltage sensors having different voltage sensing levels, the selected interchangeable voltage sensor being one from among the different interchangeable voltage sensors; and
wherein the energy meter is modular and configurable via selection of the selected interchangeable voltage sensor.
