1. An electric power steering system comprising:
an electric motor;
a steering rack drivable along a steering rack axis with power from the electric motor;
a mechanical coupling between the electric motor and the steering rack for transmitting power from the electric motor to the steering rack, wherein the mechanical coupling is enclosed within a housing; and
a compression fitting interface coupling the electric motor and the housing, the compression fitting interface disposed adjacent an axial end of the electric motor at which the mechanical coupling is provided.
