1. A line handling system comprising:
at least two spool assemblies spaced along a common axis; and
wherein each spool assembly of the at least two spool multiple assemblies comprises:
a respective flexible line;
a cylinder rotationally biased by a spring torque, the respective flexible line mounted on the cylinder in a variably wound condition such that, as the respective flexible line is extended by unwinding from the cylinder, the cylinder is rotated in a first rotational direction against the spring torque around the common axis;
a stop device coupled to the cylinder permitting rotation of the cylinder in the first rotational direction and selectively preventing rotation of the cylinder in a second rotational direction opposite the first rotational direction thereby selectively preventing, by opposing the spring torque, retraction of the respective flexible line by winding onto the cylinder; and
a release device operatively coupled to the stop device, wherein upon depression of the release device, the release device selectively releases the stop device to allow the cylinder to rotate in the second rotational direction thereby selectively permitting retraction of the respective flexible line by winding at least a portion thereof onto the cylinder.
