1. An improved bearing or bushing seal body for installation into a seal cavity of a mechanical device having an inner bore and a shaft therethrough, comprising:
a substantially rigid cylindrical seal body having a sidewall with a top end and a bottom end, and an outer surface closely dimensioned to the inner bore and formed with close tolerances to the shaft, the substantially cylindrical seal body being axially split in half along a diameter and having at least one axial jack screw hole through the sidewall of the substantially cylindrical seal body not along the split diameter from the top end to the bottom end for receiving a jack screw;
an insert having an internal thread mounted in the bottom end of the jack screw hole to receive the jack screw and allow the jack screw to pass therethrough; and
the substantially cylindrical seal body includes an integrally formed lantern ring.
