1. A device for generating an inhalable medium, the device comprising:
a container retaining a first volatilizable material that does not contain nicotine, the first volatilizable material having a pH of greater than 7;
a heater for volatilizing the first volatilizable material held in the container;
a chamber containing aerosolizable material comprising nicotine; and
an outlet;
the arrangement being such that in use, the first volatilizable material is volatilized by the heater to form a vapor and/or an aerosol, which passes through the chamber containing aerosolizable material and entrains one or more constituents of the aerosolizable material, thereby forming an inhalable medium which passes through the outlet.
