1. A computerized method comprising:
detecting, by logic processing on a network device, (i) movement of the network device at a speed above a predetermined threshold and (ii) presence of a transceiver;
implementing, by the logic processing on the network device, a set of policies on the network device, wherein implementation of the set of policies is configured to restrict functionality of the network device according to a predefined list of functionalities;
detecting, by the network device, the speed of the network device is zero miles per hour (mph);
while continuing to detect that the speed of the network device is zero mph, altering a trip duration counter at predetermined time intervals;
determining an end of a trip of the network device has occurred when the trip duration counter is altered to a predetermined value while the speed of the network device is zero mph, wherein the trip includes the network device traveling within a vehicle;
determining an end to a trip segment has occurred in lieu of the end of the trip when the speed of the network device exceeds zero mph and the trip duration counter is not yet altered to the predetermined value; and
continuing the set of policies on the network device or enacting the set of policies in response to the set of policies being released before the trip duration counter has been altered to the predetermined value.
