1. A distributed image signal processing (ISP) system for a head-mounted device comprising:
a Bayer image processing engine configured to: (i) receive raw image data and (ii) generate Bayer image data from the raw image data, wherein the Bayer image processing engine is operated by first processing logic of the head-mounted device; and
a controller integrated with or coupled to the first processing logic, wherein the controller is configured to:
based at least in part on a power level of a battery or a status of an operating application of the head-mounted device, determine whether YUV image processing is to be performed by the first processing logic of the head-mounted device or is to be performed by a second processing logic of a computing device communicatively coupled to the head-mounted device; and
if the YUV image processing is to be performed by the second processing logic, check if a communication channel to the computing device is established and if so, send the Bayer image data to the computing device for the YUV image processing.
