1. A method comprising:
estimating, by a processing system including at least one processor, an amount of a piece of source code that comprises reused code, wherein different portions of the reused code originate from different code sources;
estimating, by the processing system, a resource cost associated with a development of the piece of source code;
estimating, by the processing system, an amount of resources saved by using the reused code in the piece of source code, based on the resource cost and the amount of the piece of source code that comprises the reused code;
generating, by the processing system, a report that shows the amount of resources saved, wherein the report further shows, for each code source of the different code sources, a respective amount of the reused code that originated from the each code source and a respective portion of the amount of resources saved that is attributable to reuse of the respective amount of the reused code; and
modifying, by the processing system an amount of reused code in a new piece of source code that is under development to meet an aim of the development, wherein the modifying is based on data in the report.
