1. A display device, comprising:
a substrate that includes an upper surface and a bottom surface opposite to the upper surface, wherein the substrate includes an opening that passes from the upper surface of the substrate to the bottom surface of the substrate;
a plurality of display elements disposed on the upper surface of the substrate, wherein a display area is defined by the plurality of display elements and entirely surrounds the opening in a plan view;
an encapsulation layer disposed on the plurality of display elements and that includes a first inorganic encapsulation layer, an organic encapsulation layer, and a second inorganic encapsulation layer;
a first groove formed in a non-display area between the opening of the substrate and the display area; and
a planarization layer, wherein the first and second inorganic encapsulation layers extend toward the non-display area, and the planarization layer is disposed on the second inorganic encapsulation layer in the non-display area and overlaps the first groove;
wherein:
the first groove has a multi-layered structure that includes a first layer and a second layer disposed on an upper surface of the first layer,
the first layer includes an organic insulating material, and
the second layer includes a first tip that laterally protrudes toward the first groove beyond a first edge where the upper surface of the first layer and a first lateral surface of the first layer that faces the first groove meet, and
wherein an upper insulating layer is disposed on the second layer.
