1. A method of operating a wireless power receiver system, the method comprising:
determining a message signal that includes one or more message words;
determining an encoded message signal based on: (i) the one or more message words, and (ii) a pulse width coding format;
encoding the one or more message words in-band of a received wireless power signal as one or more pulses, based on the encoded message signal and in accordance with the pulse width coding format, to thereby communicate the message signal to a wireless power transmitter system; and
receiving the wireless power signal at a power level that is configured based on the message signal.
