1. A method of determining depth, the method comprising:
capturing a first image using a first camera in a camara array including said first camera, a second camera and a third camera, the first and second cameras being separated by a first distance, the first and third cameras being separated by a second distance, the second distance being at least two times the first distance;
capturing a second image using the second camera in said camera array;
capturing a third image using the third camera in said camera array;
making first stereoscopic depth determinations for individual image portions of said first image based on the content of said second image, said first stereoscopic depth determinations producing a first depth for each of a plurality of image portions in said first image; and
making second stereoscopic depth determinations for individual image portions of said first image based on the content of said third image, said step of making the second stereoscopic depth determinations for individual image portions of said first image including performing a constrained search for a corresponding image portion in the third image corresponding to an individual image portion of the first image based on the first depth corresponding to the individual image portion of the first image.
