1. A system comprising:
a non-volatile memory device comprising a local media controller; and
a processing device of a memory sub-system controller, operatively coupled with the non-volatile memory device and configured to manage the non-volatile device via communication with the local media controller, to perform operations comprising:
receiving a first read command and a second read command;
determining that the non-volatile memory device is in a suspended state;
responsive to determining that a first address range specified by the first read command does not overlap with a second address range specified by the second read command, issuing, to the non-volatile memory device, the first read command and the second read command collectively, wherein the second read command is issued without waiting for a result of the first read command to be retrieved from the non-volatile memory device; and
receiving, from the local media controller of the non-volatile memory device, via a single transfer operation, first data associated with the first read command and second data associated with the second read command.
