1. A thermal energy system comprising:
a thermal energy store;
a thermal fluid distribution system in fluid communication with the thermal energy store;
a thermal energy source having a thermal fluid input and a thermal fluid output and being configured to receive thermal fluid via the thermal fluid input, heat the thermal fluid, and output the thermal fluid via the thermal fluid output toward the thermal fluid distribution system;
a controller in communication with the thermal fluid distribution system and the thermal energy source, the controller being configured to:
determine a cost of thermal energy based at least on a forecast of future energy prices; and
activate the thermal energy source to cause the thermal energy source to heat the thermal fluid and overproduce thermal energy for storage in the thermal energy store based on the determined cost of thermal energy.
