1. A kamado-style grill comprising:
a base comprising a first section and a second section, wherein:
the first section comprises a main body and a recessed region, and
the second section comprises a ledge and a side wall, wherein the ledge protrudes inwardly from the side wall, and wherein the recessed region of the first section of the base is positioned inside the second section of the base; and
a tension element positioned below the ledge and between the recessed region of the first section and the side wall of the second section, wherein the tension element is configured to expand or retract around the recessed region of the first section of the base to join the first and second sections of the base.
