1. A system for preparing a brewed beverage from at least one flavorant, the system comprising:
a housing;
a receptacle connectable to said housing for holding the at least one flavorant, said receptacle including a first fluid inlet and a second fluid inlet;
a reservoir connectable to said housing;
a first fluid flow path fluidly connecting said reservoir to said first fluid inlet;
a second fluid flow path fluidly connecting said reservoir to said second fluid inlet; and
at least one valve in communication with said first fluid flow path and said second fluid flow path, wherein the at least one valve is operable to control a flow to said first fluid flow path and said second fluid flow path in response to a configuration of said receptacle.
