1. A mattress assembly including a sleeping surface comprising:
one or more foam layers containing a phase change material, the one or more foam layers spanning at least a portion of a length and/or a width of the sleeping surface;
an air permeable layer in proximity to the one or more foam layers containing the phase change material; and
a pump in fluid communication with a single layer of conduit spanning about a length and width dimension of the mattress assembly, wherein the single layer of conduit is in fluid communication with the air permeable layer, and wherein the pump is configured to provide positive air flow or negative air flow into the air permeable layer to dissipate a thermal load associated with the phase change material in the one or more foam layers during periods of non-use,
wherein the one or more foam layers including the phase change material has a parallelpiped-shape, and wherein the conduit is fluidly coupled to a manifold to provide distribution of the positive or negative air flow across length and width dimension of the parallelpiped-shape.
