1. A projection system configured to:
receive an image for projection, wherein the image is a color image comprising a first color component and a second color component;
calculate a first hologram of the first color component and a second hologram of the second color component;
add content of the second color component to the first color component before calculating the first hologram such that the first hologram contains information of the first color component and information of at least a portion of the second color component;
remove content from the second color component based on the content of the second color component added to the first color component, prior to calculating the second hologram; and
form a first holographic reconstruction by illuminating the first hologram with first color light and form a second holographic reconstruction by illuminating the second hologram with second color light, wherein the first holographic reconstruction and second holographic reconstruction are formed at substantially the same time such that the first holographic reconstruction changes a chromaticity of the at least a portion of the second color component so as to reduce an amount of light of the second color in the first and second holographic reconstructions.
