1. A computer-implemented method comprising:
determining, by at least one computer processor, a user action rate between a number of content-modification operations during which one or more content-presentation devices of a group of content-presentation devices adjust volumes or access menus and a number of content-modification operations executed by the group of content-presentation devices, wherein the content-modification operations executed by the group of content-presentation devices comprise presenting replacement content segments in place of modifiable content segments; and
preventing, in response to the user action rate satisfying a threshold condition compared to a baseline rate, at least one content-presentation device of the group of content-presentation devices from carrying out a future content-modification operation.
