1. A method for signal quality monitoring in a wireless system, comprising:
determining, by a user device, to connect to the wireless system in a high reliability mode; and
determining, based on the determination to connect to the wireless system in the high reliability mode, to use, by the user device, a first pair of out-of-sync (OOS) and in-sync (IS) block error rate (BLER) threshold values or a first set of transmission parameters for radio link monitoring (RLM) rather than a second pair of OOS and IS BLER threshold values or a second set of transmission parameters, wherein the first set of transmission parameters are used for RLM monitoring and include at least one of: a) a reduced aggregation level; or (b) a reduced ratio of hypothetical energy to average energy levels as compared to the second set of transmission parameters, and wherein the second pair of OOS and IS BLER threshold values or the second set of transmission parameters are configured for use in a non-high reliability mode,
wherein the second pair of OOS and IS BLER threshold values differs from the first pair of OOS and IS BLER threshold values, and
wherein a parameter of the second set of transmission parameters differs from a corresponding parameter of the first set of transmission parameters.
