1. An apparatus comprising:
a DC link comprising one or more capacitors;
a rectifier circuit connected to the DC link, the rectifier circuit comprising controllable solid-state switching units; and
a control system coupled to the rectifier circuit, the control system comprising:
a detection circuit configured to sense one or more electrical properties; and
logic configured to determine whether a fault condition exists based on an indication of the sensed one or more electrical properties, wherein the control system is configured to control one or more of the controllable solid-state switching units to terminate current flow to the DC link in response to determining that a fault condition exists.
