1. A system for use in a borehole, comprising:
an electric submersible pumping system having a submersible pump powered by a submersible motor coupled with a motor protector;
a power cable coupled to the submersible motor;
at least one colorimetric sensor comprising a colorimetric array having a given pattern of colors disposed within the electric submersible pumping system to detect a substance indicative of well fluid entering an interior of the submersible motor;
a control system for processing data from the at least one colorimetric sensor; and
a communication line connecting the at least one colorimetric sensor with the control system.
