1. An imaging system for imaging a tissue specimen, the imaging system comprising:
a tissue specimen apparatus including:
a first positioning member having a first surface configured to receive the tissue specimen;
a second positioning member having a second surface configured to receive the tissue specimen, wherein the first positioning member is positionable relative to the second positioning member such that the first surface faces the second surface and the tissue specimen is retained therebetween in a defined specimen support volume;
a first connection component coupled to at least one of the first positioning member and the second positioning member; and
a second connection component coupled to at least one of the first positioning member and the second positioning member; and
an imaging housing defining a chamber, wherein the chamber is configured to receive the tissue specimen apparatus, and wherein the first connection component and the second connection component are configured to removably connect to the imaging housing within the chamber, the imaging housing including:
an x-ray source; and
an imaging detector disposed opposite of the x-ray source along an imaging axis, wherein when the tissue specimen apparatus is received within the chamber, the specimen support volume is positioned within the imaging axis, and wherein the connection between the tissue specimen apparatus and the imaging housing is configured to movably position the tissue specimen apparatus between at least a first imaging orientation and a different second imaging orientation relative to the imaging axis.
