1. A method for providing a parameter that indicates a heightened likelihood of postoperative delirium occurring, wherein the method comprises:
receiving at least one electroencephalography (EEG) signal from a head of a patient, wherein the at least one EEG signal is received within a period of time in which the patient is under anesthesia;
filtering the at least one EEG signal to produce at least one filtered EEG signal, wherein the at least one filtered EEG signal comprises a reduced total amount of frequencies compared to a total amount of frequencies of the at least one EEG signal;
determining an intraoperative alpha peak frequency of the at least one filtered EEG signal, wherein the intraoperative alpha peak frequency is a frequency in an alpha band of the at least one filtered EEG signal at which a power is greatest;
determining a difference value between the intraoperative alpha peak frequency and a preset reference value associated with the heightened likelihood of postoperative delirium; and
providing the parameter that indicates the heightened likelihood of postoperative delirium occurring based on the difference value being greater than a preset difference value.
