1. A surgical tool system comprising:
a tool unit comprising a power generating unit and a head for supporting an energy applicator;
a first battery and control module that is configured to releasably receive the tool unit, the first battery and control module having a first module housing defining a first void space constructed so as to seal the first void space to withstand repeated sterilization, at least one first rechargeable cell being disposed in the first void space, the at least one first rechargeable cell configured for supplying energization signals to the tool unit and a first controller for regulating application of the energization signals from the at least one first rechargeable cell to the tool unit, the first battery and control module having a first shape so that when the tool unit is attached to the first battery and control module, the tool unit and the first battery and control module have a pencil-grip configuration; and
a second battery and control module that is configured to releasably receive the tool unit, the second battery and control module having a second module housing defining a second void space constructed so as to seal the second void space to withstand repeated sterilization, at least one second rechargeable cell being disposed in the second void space, the at least one second rechargeable cell configured for supplying energization signals to the tool unit and a second controller for regulating application of the energization signals from the at least one second rechargeable cell to the tool unit, the tool unit and the second battery and control module have a pistol-shaped configuration, wherein the second battery and control module includes a barrel portion and a grip portion, the grip portion extending downwardly from the barrel portion.
