1. A hand-held surface cleaning device comprising:
a handle, the handle configured to receive at least one battery;
a nozzle, the nozzle defining a nozzle dirty air inlet;
a motor configured to be powered by the at least one battery for generating suction and drawing air into the nozzle dirty air inlet;
a dust cup,
the dust cup having a first end adjacent the motor and comprising a collection area,
the collection area being configured to receive debris drawn into the nozzle dirty air inlet and store the debris; and
a door,
the door having a closed position for retaining the debris in the collection area and an open position for emptying the debris from the collection area, and
the door being coupled to the dust cup for rotation about an axis adjacent a second end of the dust cup to move between the closed position and the open position,
the handle being positioned substantially coaxially with respect to the motor and the dust cup.
