1. A computer implemented method, comprising:
receiving, by a platform server device, one or more requests for content from one or more media devices, each of the requests comprising content identifier information identifying the content for playback on the one or more media devices;
determining, by the platform server device, whether crowd sourced content index information has been generated for the content;
transmitting, by the platform server device, a response to each of the media devices, in response to each of the requests and based at least on a determination that the crowd sourced context index information has not been generated for the content, wherein the response comprises content location information and a content indexing request to request each of the media devices to generate content index information for the content, and wherein the content index information includes at least an index reliability information including completeness information for the content; and
determining the crowd sourced content index information for the content based at least on the completeness information of the index reliability information included in the content index information generated by each of the media devices, wherein a first content index information with a first completeness information represented by a higher completeness information value than a completeness information value of a second completeness information of a second content index information is identified as the crowd sourced content index information.
