1. A shoelace retainer for use with a shoelace coupled to a shoe, the shoelace retainer comprising:
a base portion defining a channel for receiving a shoelace of a shoe therein to thereby couple the shoelace retainer to the shoe;
a body portion disposed generally above the base portion and defining first and second channels for receiving portions of the shoelace therein, while the shoelace is coupled to the shoe, wherein the channel defined by the base portion extends at least partly under the body portion;
at least one arm extending away from the body portion;
a cap configured to rotate relative to the body portion to a position to selectively cover at least part of the first and second channels defined by the body portion to thereby inhibit movement of the portions of the shoelace out of the first and second channels when received therein, wherein the cap includes a protrusion configured to engage the at least one arm when the cap is rotated to the position to cover the at least part of the first and second channels defined by the body portion and secure the cap in said position; and
a mount configured to couple the cap to the body portion, the mount disposed on the body portion and at least partly defining the first and second channels.
