1. A method for generating High Dynamic Range (HDR) and/or Wide Color Gamut (WCG) video data from an encoded video data stream, the method comprising:
extracting, by a non-HDR and/or non-WCG process of a video decoder, metadata signaled for a video data set in said encoded video data stream comprising encoded non-HDR and/or non-WCG video data;
wherein said signaled metadata structure includes at least one reshaping parameter signaled in said encoded video data stream for a video data reshaping transfer function;
wherein said at least one reshaping parameter is relevant to the video data set signaled at a segment level in the encoded video data stream;
decoding, by the non-HDR and/or non-WCG process of the video decoder, the encoded non-HDR and/or non-WCG video data to produce decoded non-HDR and/or non-WCG video data;
determining the video data reshaping transfer function based on the extracted metadata structure;
generating reshaped HDR and/or WCG video data as output data by applying the decoded non-HDR and/or non-WCG video data to the video data reshaping transfer function;
where said bitstream is adaptable on a segment by segment basis based upon changes in said at least one reshaping parameter received on a segment by segment basis, where said at least one reshaping parameter is different on said segment by segment basis for a plurality of at least three sequential segments, wherein said generated reshaped HDR and/or WCG video data has a different dynamic range and/or color gamut for each of said at least three sequential segments based upon corresponding changes in said at least one reshaping parameter being received on said segment by segment basis.
